Junior Class Retreat 2017

Wednesday, March 08, 2017, our current Junior class gathered in the LVMHS library to participate in a retreat session. This session was planned by Ms. Amber Rowell, the LVMHS College Access Advisor. The Junior Retreat began at 9am and lasted until roughly 1pm. This session focused on college/career preparation. Ms. Rowell had representatives from Chattanooga State and UTC talk to the Junior class about requirements and early planning for college admission. Ms. Rowell also had a representative to talk about getting Junior’s ready for the upcoming Financial Aid application process (FAFSA). This process is necessary for all students that qualify for, and plan to use HOPE Scholarship money or Federal Grants/Loans. Juniors were given introductory information about the Senior Project that involves job shadows and mock job interviews. They also were given the opportunity to play some team building games after lunch was provided. The retreat was a success and there was much fun had by all. If any parents/guardians are interested in college/career information, please feel free to e-mail your questions/concerns to rowell_a@hcde.org
