2018 Team Meeting Structure

Fall TN Promise meeting:

Public high school seniors: The fall TN Promise team meeting will be combined with the handbook drop off and held in a daytime assembly in October prior to the November 1, 2017 TN Promise application deadline. tnAchieves staff will be traveling the state facilitating 45 minute meetings to all seniors enrolled at the institution. At this meeting, students will learn more about TN Promise, tnAchieves, the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and the 1/16 mandatory FAFSA deadline. This meeting will not include volunteer mentors, who will be assigned to students who remain eligible after the January 16 FAFSA deadline. At this time, tnAchieves will not have a list of all applicants, so all seniors should attend this informational assembly. Because of this, tnAchieves will not conduct sign in prior to the start of the team meeting and every student will receive student handbook. If a student does not apply for TN Promise by November 1, 2017, the student will not be eligible for the scholarship. This meeting is not mandatory for student eligibility, but all students are strongly encouraged to attend as important future eligibility requirements are discussed. If you wish to take attendance, please wait until the tnAchieves presentation is complete. We will leave all additional handbooks with you for students who were not in attendance.
Spring TN Promise meeting:

The spring TN Promise meeting is mandatory for student eligibility and will be held in March and April 2018. All students that complete both the TN Promise application and the FAFSA by the deadline must be in attendance. This meeting will focus on financial aid processes post-FAFSA completion, college enrollment with presentations by local college representatives, community service and other eligibility requirements post-high school graduation. This will be the first mentor meeting for Class of 2018 applicants and the first time applicants will connect with the volunteer mentor. Please notify amanda@tnachieves.org of the location in the school in which the meeting will take place. We also ask that additional tables for sign in and post-secondary purposes be available, as well as access to a microphone if the space allows. tnAchieves will conduct sign in prior to the start of the team meeting and the meeting will last one hour.
It is mandatory that eligible TN Promise students attend their institution’s spring TN Promise meeting in order to remain TN Promise eligible. Parents are encouraged to attend but cannot attend in place of the student. If a student does not attend his/her assigned meeting, the student would be ineligible for TN Promise.
